TT-CSIRT recently hosted a comprehensive cybersecurity tabletop exercise simulating a major cyber-attack affecting multiple critical national infrastructure (CNI) systems. The exercise aimed to promote the development of robust incident handling procedures and processes while fostering increased cross-sector collaboration.
This critical initiative brought together entities from various CNI areas, including:
- National Defense and Protection
- Power Generation and Distribution
- Ports and Customs
The scenario simulated during the exercise provided a realistic environment for participants to test their response capabilities, improve coordination, and enhance communication strategies during cyber incidents. The overarching goal was to ensure that all entities involved are better prepared to detect, respond to, and mitigate cyber threats effectively.
The success of this exercise was made possible through strong partnerships and collaborative efforts. TT-CSIRT’s executive members worked closely with esteemed partners, ensuring the exercise’s smooth execution and impactful outcomes.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Organización de los Estados Americanos (OAS) for their unwavering support towards cybersecurity capacity development in Trinidad and Tobago. Their continued collaboration has been instrumental in advancing our national cybersecurity initiatives.
Additionally, we thank the team from Protection Group International for their expert facilitation of the exercise. Their knowledge and guidance were invaluable in creating a realistic and effective training scenario.
We also recognize and appreciate the active participation of the entities from the national defense and protection, power generation and distribution, and ports and customs sectors. Their involvement and collaboration were crucial in identifying areas for improvement and reinforcing the importance of robust cybersecurity measures.
The cybersecurity tabletop exercise hosted by TT-CSIRT marks a significant step forward in enhancing national resilience against cyber threats. By developing and refining incident handling procedures and increasing cross-sector collaboration, we are better positioned to protect our critical infrastructure and ensure a secure digital environment for all.
Through continued partnerships and a commitment to excellence, TT-CSIRT will remain at the forefront of cybersecurity efforts, safeguarding Trinidad and Tobago’s digital future.
