CyberPaths Programme Equips Trinidad and Tobago’s Youth with Practical Cybersecurity Skills
On August 24, 2026, a total 40 of our nation’s youth began a five-day, hands-on cybersecurity training program delivered by the delivered by the SANS Institute under the Organization of American States (OAS) CyberPaths Program.
Over the first four days, participants engaged in a combination of theoretical instruction and hands-on laboratory exercises, allowing them to apply key concepts in a practical environment. Participants were also provided with course books and supporting materials to reinforce their learning. The training was led by Mr. Rich Greene, a SANS instructor and former member of the United States military, whose interactive teaching approach encouraged participants to ask questions, engage with the material and work through practical cybersecurity challenges.
The fifth and final day marked an important milestone as participants sat the examination associated with the training, providing successful candidates with the opportunity to earn a recognized certification. The program offered many participants valuable early exposure to professional cybersecurity training while demonstrating how classroom concepts can translate into real-world technical skills. The initiative also reflects the importance of investing in the development of Trinidad and Tobago’s future cybersecurity workforce as the demand for skilled professionals continues to grow.
