TT-CSIRT Collaborates in Cyber Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) 2026

The Trinidad and Tobago Cyber Security Incident Response Team (TT-CSIRT), under the Ministry of Homeland Security (MHS), collaborated in the Cyber Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) 2026. The engagement brought together local, regional, and international stakeholders to strengthen cybersecurity capabilities through structured knowledge sharing and technical dialogue.

Advancing Cybersecurity Through Collaboration

SMEE 2026 emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing evolving cyber threats. Stakeholders from across government, academia, and international partners including the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, the United States Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago, and the Delaware National Guard participated in discussions aimed at strengthening coordination and reducing operational silos.

The programme highlighted that effective cybersecurity is not solely technology-driven, but also dependent on people, processes, and shared responsibility.

Strengthening National Cyber Resilience

In the feature address, Mr. Narine Charran, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, underscored the importance of securing digital transformation initiatives. He noted that while digital services improve accessibility for citizens, they must be supported by strong cybersecurity measures to safeguard national systems and data.

The engagement also reinforced the role of national frameworks, including the Computer Misuse Act and the National Cyber Security Strategy, in guiding governance and strengthening the country’s cybersecurity posture.

Supporting Capacity Building and Knowledge Exchange

SMEE 2026 provided a platform for technical exchange and capacity building, enabling participants to:

  • Share insights on emerging cyber threats and trends
  • Discuss incident response coordination and best practices
  • Strengthen inter-agency and international partnerships
  • Identify opportunities to enhance national cybersecurity capabilities

Commitment to a Secure Digital Environment

TT-CSIRT’s collaboration in SMEE 2026 reflects its continued commitment to strengthening national cyber resilience through partnership, knowledge sharing, and strategic engagement.

Initiatives such as SMEE play a critical role in building a more secure and resilient digital environment for the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.
